Friends of Biltmore Forest Earth Day Presentation

The Friends of Biltmore Forest committee is presenting an Earth Day Lecture Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 7pm . We hope to host the Town's 2nd Annual Arbor Day event in Rosebank Park in 2022, but meeting virtually this year will provide timely and beneficial information to all residents regarding our forest environment, while ensuring everyone's safety.  A brief agenda and informational links for the meeting may be found below.

This spring’s lecture will feature two timely and insightful presentations. Thom Green and Logan Dye from the Hemlock Restoration Initiative will discuss ways we can all work to preserve our native hemlocks and protect them from the hemlock wooly adelgid (HWA). Second, Dr. Sara Villani and Cliff Ruth from the NC State Cooperative Extension Service will provide an update on boxwood blight and answer questions regarding this issue that affects many in Biltmore Forest, as well as identifying other prominent topics for Biltmore Forest and Buncombe County.

Katie Valeika, chair of the Friends of Biltmore Forest, will host the event and will provide an opportunity for viewers to ask questions in the Zoom chat that she will relay to the presenters.
