Biltmore Forest Update - Jan 12, 2025
The Town’s regular meeting schedule resumes in January 2025. The Board of Commissioners will hold their regular meeting this Tuesday, January 14th at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will include a public hearing on proposed zoning text amendments. The agenda and information for this meeting may be found on the Town’s website at www.biltmoreforest.org. The Board of Adjustment will resume meeting this month and will hold their meeting on Monday, January 27. The Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, January 28. All agendas and information may be found approximately 4-5 days before the meeting on the Town’s website.
The contractor has removed just over 290,000 cubic yards of debris and processed over 90,000 cubic yards of wood chips. The revised estimate is that there is 120,000 cubic yards of debris remaining. As the Town continues debris removal from Hurricane Helene, we are nearing the completion of “first pass” in Town. This DOES NOT mean all areas have been cleaned or all debris has been removed from the public right of way. There will still be time for residents to move storm debris to the public right of way – please do this within the next several weeks If you have remaining storm debris and you are able to do so. As a reminder, the Town’s website is updated daily with dedicated debris removal information which may be found at the following link: https://www.biltmoreforest.org/projects/hurricane-helene-debris-removal
Please remember that ONLY STORM DEBRIS FROM HURRICANE HELENE may be placed at the public right of way. Any other tree removal must be approved by the Town and that debris must be taken away by the private tree contactor.
The Town will be announcing a private property debris removal (PPDR) program this week for those who are eligible and have been unable to move debris to the public right of way or have other specific issues on their property. Please stay tuned this week for more information via CodeRED or the Town’s website.
We hope everyone’s New Year is off to a great start and appreciate the continued patience and support of all. Thank you
