Debris Removal Update
As of January 29th, over 330,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris has been removed from the public right of way. The Town has processed this debris into over 130,000 cubic yards of wood chips. Stumps that are located on, or are accessible, from the public right of way will be removed by the contractor over the next several weeks. The contractor will begin working on different portions of debris removal, including eligible private property, park properties, and waterways, within the next several months.
Because right of way debris removal is nearing completion, we urge all residents with any remaining vegetative storm debris to bring it to the public right of way as soon as possible.
The Town will host a second application intake period for private property debris removal (PPDR). This application period will take place next week on Thursday, February 6 through Saturday, February 8 from 9am-2pm at the Town Hall. A flyer regarding this program is in the mail and additional info is available on the Town’s website at biltmoreforest.org.
Please know, the Town is also working with federal and state partners regarding fire prevention and mitigation strategies because of Hurricane Helene. This is a primary focus for the Town and we will provide information these prevention and mitigation measures as soon as they are available.
Thank you for your continued work to help the Town recover from the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.
